Our Minds Together: Mental Health Policy Norms
1. The National Association of School Psychologists recommend a ratio of 500-750 students to 1 psychologist in schools.
2. Provide mental health education and resources for school staff and students.
- Health education courses for students include mental health and suicide prevention information.
- School teachers and staff should receive professional training recognize the signs of mental health issues.
- All school websites should provide access to mental health resources, such as counseling, community services, and hotlines.
3. Local Boards of Education should provide up to four excused mental health days per academic school year
